This is a self build kit. You need a Lathe and a Mill to complete this kit. This package includes the plans only - no barstock or machined parts are included.
This design is nicknamed "The Windmill" and is an exceptionally beautiful and unique engine. Every part is machined from solid brass or aluminum. It uses five 1/4" single acting pistons with 1/2" strokes. The "wobble" style valving means that every cylinder is in a constant oscillating motion while running. This means lots of external motion and makes the engine very fascinating to watch. The main shaft runs in ball bearings. Turning the heavy brass flywheel by hand feels solid, and very smooth. This design is completely self starting and only 5 psi of pressure is required. The diameter around the outside of the five cylinders is four inches. The intake is a 1/8" O.D. brass pipe.
Building it:
The Liney-5 is a perfect project for someone with a CNC mill. Don't let that stop you though. It can be built with manual equipment as well. The freedom to alter the shape of the frame leaves lots of room for creativity and customization. I would rate this as an intermediate level difficulty project. If you do not have CNC, a rotary table will be important. With these schematics you can build a 2,3,4, or 5 cylinder
